French-language compliance firm

For businesses that sell, advertise or hire in Quebec

Your labels, website and documents, compliant with Quebec’s Charter of the French Language

The Charter requires French on your packaging, in your manuals, on your website, and in your contracts and employment documents. We review every item against the applicable rule, then deliver the corrected French text, ready to print, publish or file. French-language compliance is all we do.

  • One specialty: French-language compliance in Quebec.
  • Every finding backed by the applicable rule and its official source.
  • French text certified by a certified translator, a member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) when an authority requires it.
  • Published prices and timelines confirmed in writing, with no hourly billing.

What brings businesses to us

A specialized firm, from the review to the final text

A law firm usually tells you what’s wrong without fixing it. A translation agency usually translates whatever you send it, without checking it against the Charter. French-language compliance is all we do: we review against the Charter, then deliver French text that meets it.

MOTCIBLE is a French-language compliance practice. Every file is handled by the practice, under the responsibility of a certified translator, a member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ): a written method, a complete second read and, where certification is required, a translation signed and sealed by the professional responsible for the mandate. Around each file, the practice brings together the language specialists and technical experts the work calls for, in close collaboration from the first call to delivery. You get the rigour of a specialized team, without paying for a large agency’s overhead.

A price you know before the first call

Every service has a published price. The written quote sets the scope and the timeline. We don’t bill by the hour.

Text that’s ready to use

You don’t get a list of problems. You get corrected French text, ready for your printer, your website or your filing.

Technical and certified expertise

OTTIAQ certification and rigorous technical terminology work: your manuals and spec sheets are compliant and technically accurate.

Complaints to the OQLF keep rising

Quebec’s Charter of the French Language applies to every business that sells or advertises in Quebec, whatever its size. Here is where enforcement stands.

11,125

complaints received by the OQLF in 2025-2026, up 7% from the year before.

33%

of those complaints involved commercial materials, including websites and social media.

$30,000

maximum fine per offence for a business, doubled for a second offence and tripled after that.

June 1, 2027

end of the sell-through period for some products made before June 1, 2025.

Sources (in French unless noted): Government of Quebec, 2025-2026 complaints, Charter of the French Language, ss. 205 and 207 (English), OQLF, trademarks on products.

  • A review of your website: pages, checkout, automated emails and terms of sale.
  • One consolidated report, citing the applicable rule for every finding.
  • French text for short items, ready for your printer and your site.
  • A re-check of your corrections within 30 days.

$1,650

instead of $1,800 for the two reviews bought separately. Fixed price, confirmed in writing.

The CIBLE method

Five steps, each with a deliverable

Every step produces a document your team can understand, keep up to date and show the OQLF if asked. You always know what’s done, what’s left and what it costs.

  1. Chart

Take stock of your products, website, documents, signage and communications.

  2. Inventory

Build one register of everything to address, with an owner, a risk level and a deadline.

  3. Benchmark

Set writing rules, terminology and a language policy that all fit together.

  4. Localize

Deliver French text for the priority items, ready to print, publish or file, certified if needed.

  5. Ensure

Check new content, keep the register current and flag rule changes.

Our commitments

A price you know upfront

Deliverables, timeline, price and each party’s responsibilities are confirmed in writing before we begin. We don’t bill by the hour.

Findings you can stand behind

Every finding cites the rule that applies and its official source, so you can defend each change to your management, your printer or the OQLF.

A free re-check

For labelling, signage and the Quebec Market Entry package, we re-check your corrected proofs within 30 days at no extra cost.

Independence

MOTCIBLE is neither the OQLF nor a law firm. We produce documents, and when you need a legal opinion, we refer you to the right people.

Frequently asked questions

Is MOTCIBLE part of the OQLF?

No. We are an independent firm. We prepare and organize your documents, but only the Office québécois de la langue française decides whether a company complies.

We have fewer than 25 employees. Does the Charter apply to us?

Yes. Registration with the OQLF is only required once you have 25 or more employees, but the rules on labelling, signage, websites, contracts and commercial materials apply to every business, whatever its size. Those are the rules most of our clients come to us about.

We are based outside Quebec. Does the law apply to us?

Yes, to anything you sell or advertise in Quebec: products, packaging, documents supplied with the product, websites, catalogues and advertising. We work in English, French and Spanish with Canadian and international companies.

Is the assessment fee lost if we go ahead?

No. If you book the compliance project within 30 days of receiving the assessment, its fee is credited toward the project.

Can you guarantee an OQLF certificate?

No. Only the OQLF issues certificates. What we commit to is the written scope: the agreed documents, delivered at the agreed price and by the agreed date.

How are our documents protected?

Your documents are used only for your project, and we agree on a secure way to share them before anything is sent. We’ll sign your non-disclosure agreement on request. See our privacy policy for details.
