Companies whose documents come from an English-speaking head office
Your contracts and employment documents in French, provided in the right order
Contracts of adhesion, terms of sale, invoices, job postings and employment contracts must be drawn up in French. We take inventory of your documents, deliver the French text of each one, certified if needed, and tell you how to provide them. From $1,500.
The rules
- Contracts of adhesion. Since June 1, 2023, the French version must be provided first. The parties may then be bound by a version in another language only if the adhering party clearly says so after seeing the French version.
- Documents for customers. Contracts, invoices, receipts and other documents for consumers must be drawn up in French.
- Documents for employees. Job postings, application forms, individual employment contracts, documents on working conditions, training materials and written communications to staff must be drawn up in French.
- Requiring another language. To require knowledge of a language other than French, an employer must show the job needs it and that it took all reasonable means to avoid that requirement.
Source (in French): Government of Quebec, business obligations.

Pricing
Every service has a published price. Scope, deliverables, timeline and price are confirmed in writing before we start. Not sure where to begin? That’s what the free 30-minute call is for.
Prices in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes. A 50% deposit is due when the project starts and the balance on delivery; certified translations are paid in full when ordered. Translating a full website or a set of documents is quoted at a fixed price after the review. We don’t bill by the hour.
Frequently asked questions
Can a customer sign the English version of our contract?
Yes, for a contract of adhesion, provided the French version was given first and the customer then clearly stated that they wanted to be bound by the English version. A simple language-choice clause is no longer enough.
Do you draft our contracts?
No. We provide the French text of your existing documents, certified if needed, and tell you in what order to provide them. The legal content of your contracts remains your legal adviser’s responsibility.
How is the price set?
The inventory of your documents lets us set a fixed price based on their number and length. The price is confirmed in writing before we start.
Which documents need to be in French?
Tell us the types of documents, roughly how many there are and your deadline. We’ll confirm the price and turnaround.
